The Berkshire Tortoise Club is a web page and Facebook group. This is primarily due to the volunteers who help run the group all live in the Berkshire area. It is run by voluntary members who all share a passion for tortoises. We are a non - profit group.
Over the years, the group has changed the way that we do things. This is in keeping with what members want to see happen. However, the ethos of the group has not changed and we are still very passionate in all aspects of tortoise care and husbandry
What we want to do
Our focus is to promote all tortoise welfare in captivity. To share with pet shops, other pet businesses, new members owning a tortoises and to share the most up to date research in tortoise care
We support new and experienced tortoise owners. Some of our members have had tortoises since they were young, others have only just acquired these life long pets! We are are still learning about these beautiful reptiles and so much has changed over the last 20 years that many do not know about.
Our face group page is very active. You will meet novice and experienced tortoise keepers from all over Berkshire and the wider areas. We enjoy seeing photos of your tortoises and setup's. We are here to help in anyway we can. If you have a question or wish to discuss privately. You can PM message on Facebook.
The Admin team will be happy to help you
BTC Information and Tortoise Care
At Times; we have tortoises needing new homes. We try our best to re-home them and support the new owners both on our face book page and by personal message.
Anyone looking into homing a tortoise should be encouraged to research fully before taking one on. They need equipment and housing including a garden. Have a look at the photos to help you see some of our members set ups.
